1. New Registration (Create an Account)
Before you can log in, you must verify your railway service credentials and create an account on the official portal. Registration is a one-time validation process.
Registration for Serving Railway Employees
Visit the Official Portal
Open your web browser and navigate to the official UMID portal at umid.digitalir.in. On the homepage, click the Register button.
Select Your Category
Choose Employee from the category selection screen. (Retired staff must select Pensioner).
Validate Your Railway Details
Enter your 11-digit PF Number, PAN Number, and Date of Birth exactly as they appear in your official railway service records. Click Validate Details to proceed.
Verify via OTP
Confirm your registered mobile number shown on the screen and click Get OTP. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent via SMS to your mobile phone.
Set Your Account Password
Create a secure password (minimum 8 characters with at least one uppercase letter, one numeral, and one special character). Confirm the password and submit to finalize your registration.
Registration for Railway Pensioners
Access Pensioner Registration
Go to umid.digitalir.in, click Register, and choose the Pensioner category.
Submit Pension Identification
Enter your PPO Number (Pension Payment Order), PAN Number, Date of Birth, and Date of Cessation (official retirement date) as recorded in your settlement documents.
Verify OTP and Set Password
Verify your registered phone number via SMS OTP, then create and confirm a strong 8+ character password to complete registration.
2. UMID Portal Login
Once your account is registered, you can log in to your employee dashboard to initiate the medical card application.
Open the Login Page
Visit umid.digitalir.in using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Enter User ID
Type your 11-digit PF Number in the User ID field. If you are a retired employee, enter your PPO Number.
Enter Password
Input the password created during your registration process.
Complete Captcha & Sign In
Type the alphanumeric security Captcha code displayed on the screen and click Log In to open your dashboard.
3. Initiate the Application & Upload Documents
Logging in does not automatically generate your medical card. You must complete and submit an official application form containing your medical history, health unit choices, and family details.
Start the Form
From your user dashboard sidebar menu, click Initiate Application.
Complete the Self Form
Review your pre-filled railway service details. You must manually add your Blood Group, Current Residential Address, Preferred Railway Hospital or Health Unit, and active Email ID.
Add Eligible Dependents
Click the Add Family Member button to add coverage for your spouse, eligible children, or dependent parents. Fill in each dependent's full name, date of birth, blood group, and relationship.
Upload Required Documents
Upload clear, scanned copies of your supporting documents. All files must be in JPEG or JPG format and strictly under 2MB in size:
- Passport-sized photograph: Recent color photo with a plain background for yourself and each family member.
- Scanned signature: Clear signature on white paper (for employee and adult dependents).
- Service & Medical proofs: Old medical booklet, medical card copy, or employee pass declaration form.
- Identity proof: Aadhaar card or PAN card for each dependent.
- Proof of relationship: Birth certificate (for children) or marriage certificate (for spouse).
Review and Submit
Double-check all entered personal data, hospital preferences, and uploaded attachments. Click Submit Application to forward your file for departmental approval.
Note: Your application undergoes administrative verification by the Railway Personnel Department and Medical Department. The review process typically takes about 5 to 7 business days.
4. How to Download Your Medical Card
You do not need to wait for a physical card to be printed and mailed. Once your application is reviewed and approved, your smart card is generated digitally.
Check Your Application Status
Log in to umid.digitalir.in and click on My Application Status in the dashboard navigation to verify whether your approval is complete.
Access Download Section
Once the status changes to approved, navigate to View/Download Medical Cards from the sidebar.
Save PDF or Print
Click download to save your UMID card in PDF format directly to your smartphone or computer. You can keep it on your phone or print a physical copy.
To receive cashless treatment at any railway hospital or empanelled medical facility, present the unique QR code on your phone screen or show the printed copy at the OPD registration counter.
How to Reset Forgot Password on UMID
If you cannot access your UMID account due to a forgotten password, follow these recovery steps:
- Go to the login page at umid.digitalir.in and click Forgot Password.
- Select your category (Employee or Pensioner).
- Enter your PF Number / PPO Number, PAN Number, and Date of Birth.
- Click Get OTP to receive an SMS verification code on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP and type a new password (minimum 8 characters).
- Click Update Password and log in with your new credentials.
Important: If your registered mobile number has changed or is inactive, contact your zonal Railway Welfare Inspector or visit the UMID Help Desk at your Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office to update your phone records.
